Walker boots Tigers home over Uni

Defending premiers Easts rode home on the boot of former Wallaby Andrew Walker to open their 2009 campaign with a 25-20 win over University at Bottomley Park.

Each side scored three tries but it was Walker's goalkicking - and the pressure from Easts that forced the kickable penalties - that proved the difference.

The two sides had gone toe to toe in the first half, swapping tries and the lead until a mid-air collision between Will Tuffley (University) and David Lucas (Easts) forced an extended injury break leading into halftime, with Uni leading 15-12.
